Until now, my overseas beach holidays have all been spent in Thailand. Two weeks ago, I went to Bali for the first time. Just me and two of my girlfriends. Three school Mums on tour… and no kids!
And boy did I need it. The last time I went overseas was New Zealand in 2014 for a friend’s wedding. And the last beachside holiday was four days in Torquay last Summer.
So… to Bali. What an awesome time we had. Way too many cocktails but hey, when they’re so cheap, it would be rude not to, haha!
Here’s what we got up to and my fave places to hang.

We stayed at the Ize Hotel in Seminyak, which was fab. Really luxurious with a rooftop pool and bar. I’d happily go back again. Staff were really friendly and super helpful.

Finn’s Beach Club, Canggu – we spent two long days there, and it was awesome fun. Loads of cocktails and swimming and meeting crazy travellers. I highly recommend it, but I wouldn’t take the kids there, haha!
finnsbeachclub.comOld Man’s, Canggu – super cool and really fun vibes, and awesome murals by rad Melbourne artist Lucas Grogan. Great tunes and great food. We went there twice, both on the way home from Finn’s. Would have been good to check it out during the day.

EATS & DRINKS
Motel Mexicola, Seminyak
Hands down one of the coolest places I’ve been to, in the world. And trust me, I’ve done a fair bit of traveling over the years. The fit out and spaces are amazing. Patterned tiles, wall art and neon as far as the eye can see. I was in heaven! Food was delicious and the cocktails were very yum!

Loved this place, just wishing I wasn’t so hungover when I was there! Coffee was great, but just couldn’t stomach anything to eat. Felt like I could have been in Collingwood!

Sea Circus, Seminyak
They had me at the mural, so cool! I only had coffee there, but wished I’d sampled their eats. The coffee was great and the printed quote that came with it was a really cool touch. A lovely little point of difference that I brought home with me too.

Gorgeous setting and super delicious Indonesian food. A great spot for our first night.

There were lots of other little local places where we ate buffet breakfasts for $4, but I can’t remember the names and I didn’t take photos.
So we ate, drank (a lot!), shopped, got mani’s and pedi’s, swam, sunbaked, chilled, read a few books, and generally had a super awesome time.
On our last night we agreed we would definitely go back together. Just us again. And again. Think we may have started a very fun tradition.
Have you been to Bali? What was your fave spot? I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading, L x
