It’s been a seriously busy few weeks, with Ava starting school, and lots of stuff happening with the blog. I’ve been interviewing inspiring folks, working on cool collabs, shooting heaps, running giveaways, and it’s been a lot of fun. I’ve barely even watched Netflix which means I MUST be busy.
I’ve been asking other folks lots of questions, and thought it might be fun to turn it around and see how I would answer some. So folks, here’s the word on the street – with little old me!
1. What designers/creatives truly inspire you?
I’ve chosen a few of my fave local (Australian) creatives, starting with Rachel Castle. As a lover of all things typography, bright colours and abstract shapes, I was instantly drawn to Rachel’s work. I have a few pieces from her collaboration with Gorman that I absolutely love. I would love to own one of her paintings, maybe one day!
Barbara Kitallides. I am super lucky to have known Barbara for almost 20 years now. We worked together in our 20s and have been friends ever since. Her paintings are incredibly evocative and I’m blessed to have three pieces at home, two are mine and one is Ava’s (lucky kid eh?).
Ghostpatrol. The first time I saw Ghostpatrol’s art, (a large scale paste up), was on my way to work on the tram about 12 years ago. Every day I would see it and think, ‘I wish I had that as a print’. And not long after that, I saw the exact same piece as a limited edition giclee print at a gallery in the city. I had to have it and it takes pride of place in my lounge. I have a few smaller pieces of his and a few of his book collaborations with Miso (who is also amazing!).
3. What’s your fave album right now?
Hills End by DMA’s. Check out their song ‘Delete’, I can’t stop playing it!
4. Are you reading anything good?
Yeah, Reckless by Chrissie Hynde, a really great read. I also read ‘Motherhood & Creativity’, by Rachel Power, recently, which was really, really good.
5. If you could live anywhere in the world (other than Melbourne), where would that be?
New York, in a heartbeat
6. Spots or stripes?
Stripes only just edge out the spots
7. Chocolate or chips?
Chips, unless it’s WAWA Chocolatier’s caramelised white with blueberry and blue corn
8. Coffee or tea?
9. Summer or Winter?
Summer (but not stupid 40 degree days, up to 30 is good)
10. Red or white wine?
So what about you? Spots or stripes? Coffee or tea? Tell us a bit about you.
Thanks a bunch for reading and chat soon,
