You may have guessed by now, that I have a passion for all things creative. At 14, I did work experience at a graphic design firm and I was sold. I went on to study graphic design at uni and soon became obsessed with patterns. Some of my fave artists and designers use unique graphic patterns as the focus of their work/products – think Marimekko, Warhol, Florence Broadhurst and local clothing label Gorman.
When I came across new kids on the block Siesta Home, I was immediately drawn to the colourful patterns used throughout their gorgeous new bed linen collection. Designed in Melbourne and made from 100% cotton, the Siesta Home range is unique and stylish.
Siesta’s founder and creator is Australian Winter Olympian Johanna Lyle. Her designs are inspired by her time spent zooming past amazing mountainous landscapes as a champion snowboarder. All the pieces in the range can be mixed or matched, and my fave is ‘Peak’, those vibrant colours just pop!
Joh says “I wanted to create something that embodied my passion for my sport of snowboarding and the environments I was challenged and inspired by. It was also a key channel into my artistic side. I have always been excited by interiors and interior design – since retiring from my athletic career after having a family, my partner and I have been working on creating beautiful homes and spaces. Siesta Home is a natural extension of that – to furnish your environment, particularly the bedroom, with quality textiles that look beautiful is such an important part of making a house into a home. That, to me, is what I call “Siesta Style!”.
I love it that Joh is a fellow Melburnian and we have very similar tastes when it comes to style. We were lucky to chat to Joh about what inspires her, and we also asked her about a few of her fave things.
