I’ve been feeling really blessed lately and this has a lot to do with the friendships I have made since I started blogging. Through various groups and across social media channels, each week I connect with so many wonderful women who support and encourage me to keep doing what I do.
Last week one of these wonderful women nominated me for a Sisterhood of the World Blogging Award. The lovely Ruth, from Pea Fritters, and I ‘met’ on Instagram, and although we have never met (face-to-face), it feels like I’ve made a new friend.
So what’s the award all about it? Well I had to look it up myself and was super chuffed to find out that “the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award recognises the unique voices of women bloggers around the world.” If nominated, you’re asked to answer a few questions about yourself and then pass on the love and nominate your fave bloggers and ask them questions too. Sounds like fun, so here goes!
So here are my questions from Ruth:
1. Why did you start blogging?
I had a pretty tough time during pregnancy (and beyond) and my introduction to motherhood was incredibly challenging. At the time I desperately needed to build a place where I could celebrate the good stuff, to have a happy place filled with sunshine and lollipops. That’s how me&mygirl was born.
2. What’s been your proudest moment?
Without a doubt, giving birth to my beautiful girl.
3. What do you value in a friendship?
Honesty. I’m a real ‘tell it like it is’ type person, so honesty is super important to me. Oh and you must have a good sense of humour, that goes without saying!
4. Who would you like to come and cook you dinner?
Jamie Oliver. A lot of people think he’s a bit of a tool, but I really like his enthusiasm and general zest for life. He amuses me with all of his quirky expressions and I just like the way he cooks. If Jamie can’t make it, I’d like Poh Ling Yeow (from Masterchef) to come and cook for me. She has a really infectious outlook on life and I love the style of food she cooks.
5. Top 5 car trip songs to sing along to.
OK, so this is a tough one as there are way too many to choose from. Here’s my mixed bag.
1. More Than A Feeling by Boston
2. Times Like These by Foo Fighters
3. Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure
4. Lonely Boy by The Black Keys
5. Don’t Change by INXS
6. You have a day to yourself, no kids, no work. What do you do?
Sleep in, sip on a cuppa in bed while checking out Instagram. Meet a friend for coffee and lunch. Go shopping. Come home and binge watch several episodes of whatever fave show I’m watching on Netflix.
Thanks so much for the nod Ruth, you’re a gem! Ruth writes about baby led weaning, motherhood and creates lots of allergy friendly recipes for your little folks. You can find her over at peafritters.com
Now it’s my turn to nominate these wonderful women, who I’ve recently ‘met’ on Instagram:
Lainey from The Little Laneway is a fellow Melbourne Mum who totally knows her way around a camera. Her shots on IG are perfectly styled and her feed has a really beautiful flow. I can’t remember how I found her (or whether she found me) but I’m super glad I did.
Sonia from Life Love Hiccups is Mum to 8 boys (yep, 8!). I don’t know where she finds the time to blog, but I totally admire her for it. I really like her honest approach and her styling shots on IG are great.
Cheree from Oh So Busy Mum features loads of really great family friendly recipes, travel tips, fun stuff to do with your kids and more. I recently made one of her super easy recipes for homemade gummy lollies and they were a huge hit with Ava (oh OK, with me too, ha!).
And a special shout out to the next generation of bloggers, these young girls are amazing and truly inspirational. I’d be so proud if my little lady had the inkling and dedication to create something so great.
Eva & Lia from Two Balloons Blog are both 12 years old. They are really fun and super creative and I love their IG feed. It’s bright and colourful and it takes me back to being that age again.
So ladies, here are your questions:
- How did your blog come about?
- Where do you live?
- What’s your fave city in the whole world, and why?
- What’s your fave guilty pleasure to snack on?
- Who are your top 3 fave accounts on Instagram right now?
- What do you enjoy most about blogging?
- Top 5 bands of all time?
- If you could have any meal/cuisine you like for dinner, what would you choose?
- Spots or stripes?
- If you could have any job/career in the world, what would you want to do/be (and why)?
I’m looking forward to learning more about these inspiring ladies. I hope you are too.
