So I thought I’d do a bit of a round up of my fave northside cafes. There are so many to choose from, so here are my top 3 kid-friendly spots.
I love this place. It’s been consistently good since the first time I went, which was about three years ago now. Over time, I’ve got to know the baristas and wait staff and they’re such great people. It’s my morning coffee run on the way to work and Ava and I have spent many a Friday there after her swimming lesson.
The space is great with both indoor and outdoor seating and it’s always buzzing. The bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon is not just any old bagel, it is superb. Oh and the three cheese toastie is amazing! Both so simple, but so good.

The ladies who run Short Round can do no wrong. The food is delicious and there’s always something a little different on the menu. Their home made waffles are amazing and they have a really great range of teas, the iced tea blend is so perfect on a warm day.
The staff are super lovely and I often take my laptop and work on the blog on a Saturday afternoon. I split my morning coffee runs between here and Little Henri, depending on whether I’m on kinder drop off.

Jerry Joy Cafe
Tucked away in the quiet backstreets of Thornbury, Jerry Joy is a hidden gem. The perfect little spot for Ava and I on Fridays (our days off from work and kinder), we have spent a lot of time there lately. The owners and staff are so friendly and really lovely with Ava.
The coffee’s always good and the food is super yum. They have a dedicated kids menu with mini versions of the bigger faves likes boiled eggs and soldiers and mini burgers. Ava and I have been known to order the big and little burgers alongside big and little milkshakes – the salted caramel is so good!
Sometimes it’s just coffee for me, hot chocolate for Ava, we share a cake or two and we play Uno.
