To say I love workshops is an understatement. For me, they are fun, motivating and inspiring. And it’s always a bonus when you meet friendly like-minded folks. I’ve done quite a few in my time – screen printing, fabric dyeing, experimental drawing, photography and most recently, social media.
Late last year (about three months after launching the blog), I was struggling to work out a social media strategy. One of my friend’s suggested I do a social media workshop with an old colleague of hers, who had just started her own business running said workshops.
So off I went to meet the ladies who are The Digital Picnic. I’m so grateful for that connection and I can’t speak highly enough about Catherine and Cherie. They are brilliant, funny, warm, clever, engaging, incredibly supportive and totally know their stuff.
On the day there was a small group of us with diverse backgrounds, brands and businesses. Before long, we were all laughing and sharing stories and ideas. I had a blast. I felt so invigorated and excited to go home and get to work.
The very next day I started putting their tips into practice and over the next couple of weeks the results were clear. I was getting more exposure, traction and engagement and my efforts were really paying off. Yay!
Last month I went to a follow up workshop which they call a ‘Health Check’ for previous graduates. It’s a smaller group, which is tailored to help you with your top three social media challenges. I loved every minute of it and picked up more great strategies and tips.
There’s also a private Facebook page for all workshop graduates. I love this group and ongoing support and I use it every week. Much like a forum, it’s a place where you can ask questions, gauge interest on ideas and most importantly share your achievements. It’s an invaluable resource and I have met some super lovely and supportive ‘virtual’ friends.
