Do you love taking photos, but you’re a bit lazy when it comes to dragging out your real camera? Well, this is the post for you.
These days, it’s about what’s easiest. I’ve noticed more and more, that we tend to use our smartphones to capture moments in our lives. Even me, a photography nut, am guilty of not taking my camera along to parties, celebrations and family gatherings. I think about it, but I’m lazy and just resort to using my iPhone.
For me, photography is part of daily life. I’m always thinking about that next great shot. I see inspiring urban art, textures on walls, patterns etc on my way to and from work, while out shopping and in the most unlikely places.
I can’t remember how I stumbled upon it, but pretty soon after getting an iPhone, I found the Hipstamatic app and boy I’m glad I did. It’s basically a really cool camera app which can make your photos look awesome! You can choose different films, lenses and flashes and the results are super fun. You can shoot in bright tones, muted tones, black & white, sepia – the options are endless.
You can choose a film and lens that come together in a pack or shake it up and use any film/lens combo. The only limit is your imagination. It’s not prescriptive and the results are also a bit unpredictable. But that’s what I really love about it, you just go with it and see what you get.
Here are some more photography apps that I love:
Like Hipstamatic you can use it as a camera and then edit your shots, add filters and save to your camera roll.
This app is so fun! Use it as a camera or upload images from your camera roll and then add text. With a really wide variety of font and design styles, this is my go to app for my ‘me&my.chats’ images. I choose an image, type in one of Ava’s quotes, edit the font/design style and voila! I use this app every week.
If you want to make simple collages with your images, this is the app for you. There are loads of these apps but this one is my fave. It’s super easy to use and great when you want to share more than one image.
If you like playing around with time-lapse videos, you will love this app. There is a time-lapse setting in the normal camera on the latest iPhone, but this app has more functions. Once you’ve filmed your video, you can change the speed which can also edit the length of the film (great for uploading to Instagram). I’ve used this for filming out the window of a plane (here), capturing Ava while painting (here), out the window on a road trip (here) and I can’t wait to create more little films.
Love this app which basically takes a number of images and turns them into a digital flip book. In the editing process, you can change the speed, add music, add text and add filters to the original images.
Here’s a recent video I made for Mother’s Day over on my IG account.
So that wraps up my fave photography apps and if you like this post, have a look at our recent post on taking more interesting shots of your kids here.
(NOTE: this is in no way a sponsored post. I just love these apps and wanted to share them with you).
