Last week my Mum had a milestone birthday so we decided on a girls day out with Ava. For Mother’s Day last year, my thoughtful husband had given us (Mum and I) a voucher for high tea at The Langham and what better time to use it than for her special birthday.
When I called to book to check if we could bring Ava along too, they told me there was a promotion on for the Little Langham High Tea and the theme for January was The Smurfs.
That morning Ava’s eyes lit up when I suggested that she dress up in one of her new dresses and like most little girls, she jumped at the chance to pop on a frock and start twirling around. ‘Look Mum, watch my dress when I spin!’
If you haven’t been to The Langham to eat, it really is a lovely setting. As soon as you reach the top of the escalator, it feels like you have been transported to another city. With its old world charm, ornate chandeliers, lots of marble and decorative fountains – it is quite a luxurious setting and certainly not something I get to see every day!
High tea is set in the Aria Bar so we settled into the large comfy lounge chairs and had a good chat. With The Smurfs theme, the kids are given a smurf toy, activity book and a blue lemonade welcome drink. Ava’s face was priceless when she saw Smurfette!
Soon after settling in, along came our food on tiered plate stands. After starting with the finger sandwiches, we all indulged in the decadent sweet treats. Ava tried a marshmallow mushroom house, chocolate coated smurfberries, village jelly clouds, smurf cupcakes and more. While Ava was hanging out with Smurfette and getting in touch will all things blue, Mum and I did our best to get through our lovely sweet things.
After sipping our last drop of tea, unfortunately it was time to go home. On the way out we spotted the old school (London-style) pink taxi and couldn’t resist the shot of Ava chanelling her inner royal. Cheerio my dears!
