On Sunday we all went for a family lunch to El Mirage in East Brunswick. I’ve been there before with friends and also on my own to do some writing for the blog so I knew it would be a good spot for a family outing.
It was a gorgeous sunny day so we sat out the front to enjoy the weather and there is plenty of shade which is important when you have a small person with you.
I really like this place. The space is generous with tables inside and out, the staff are friendly, the coffee’s good but the food is definitely the drawcard for me.
Dan ordered the potato rosti with homemade relish and salad and I ordered the haloumi and watermelon salad which was superb! Topped with a parsley, mint and pine nut salad and finished off with a delicious pomegranate molasses dressing, this is one of the best dishes I have tasted in ages. So fresh and a super yum option without the usual bread component that dominates so many menus.
Ava chose the pancakes with lemon curd and mascarpone which (of course) was the most decadent/sweet option. And trust me, they did not disappoint. Dan and I helped her out and Ava scooped up the last of the lemon curd with her sticky little fingers, yum!
What I really like about this place (apart from the tasty treats) is that there is ample space for one person to sit and just have a coffee without feeling pressure to order food. I will definitely be back to sit in the window, sip my coffee and write some more posts.
