Everyone in our family loves a good bowl of soup and there’s always a stockpile of hearty options in our freezer through winter. We don’t usually eat that much soup in summer but I’m pretty sure we could eat a big bowl of pho on any given day.
For years I had been pronouncing ‘pho’ incorrectly and after Googling ‘how to pronounce pho’ it came up with ‘fer’ or ‘fuh’. Pronunciations aside, we can’t get enough of it at the moment.
There are quite a few Vietnamese restaurants near where we live and our favourite is Pho Hung in central Preston. I have never seen so much pho! They wheel it out on trolleys, in batches that just keep on coming.
Upon arrival we are presented with a flask of hot tea and even Ava has some. There’s a great selection of sauces on each table which is very welcome, particularly for Dan who is a big chilli sauce fan!
We always have spring rolls (Ava’s favourite) to start and Dan and I choose something with a bit of heat like salt and pepper squid or chicken with chilli and lemongrass (yum!). Then it’s pho time. We share one between the three of us and we all slurp ‘til we can slurp no more.
The atmosphere is fun, the food comes out quickly and the staff run a very tight ship. It’s always busy and very kid friendly with high chairs for really small peeps.
We have been there twice in the last two weeks and no doubt will be back for another pho fix very soon.
