Although the weather is still a little crisp in Melbourne right now, the recent snippets of sun have taken me back to last Summer. We were heading out for a coffee with Ava and we stumbled upon the Sydney Road Street Party.
It was a gorgeous sunny day and there were lots of families out with kids exploring the different zones. There was something for everyone with a diverse range of food stalls, live music, coffee and juice stalls, clothes, shoes and accessories for sale and so much more.
We walked around and sampled some local ice cream delights and decided to check out some music. Well, what a treat and Ava was transfixed. I think it was her first proper live music experience (apart from a couple of kids concerts like Play School) and she absolutely loved it.
First up was a young hip-hop crew, so I took Ava up the front to join in dancing with some other local kids. At first she was a bit shy and stood with me but she was grooving along.
Next came a band that was a little bit rock, a little bit jazz and a little bit soul with some brilliant saxophone sounds. This time Ava dragged me up to dance and we bopped along.
After that came a rock band with a female singer who was incredibly talented and the next thing I knew, Ava was off on her own to dance with the kids at the front of the stage. I was so proud of her and it’s obvious my love of live music is alive in her. I can’t wait until she’s old enough for me to take her to a gig and we can rock on together.
